Meet Laurel

Say hello to Laurel, a beautiful cream English Golden Retriever puppy born to Hazel and Diamond on August 12, 2026. Laurel is growing up with us at Bluebird Meadow Puppies in Middlebury, Indiana, sharing these first weeks with her littermates while becoming more familiar with the people and activity around her.

Right now, Laurel's world is changing almost daily. Those early days spent mostly eating and sleeping gradually give way to more movement, interaction, and curiosity. Before long, she'll be investigating her surroundings, playing with her brothers and sisters, and discovering that there is quite a bit more to life than the puppy pile.

We enjoy watching this process happen naturally. Laurel is still young, so rather than guessing what her personality will be, we're giving her time to grow and letting those individual characteristics reveal themselves along the way.

A Beautiful Member of the Golden Retriever Family

Laurel's cream-colored coat gives her the light, elegant appearance many families associate with an English Golden Retriever. As pretty as these puppies are, however, there is much more behind the breed than a beautiful coat.

The Golden Retriever was developed as a sporting breed, with dogs expected to retrieve and work cooperatively with their handlers. Intelligence, responsiveness, and a willingness to work alongside people were valuable qualities, and generations later, those traits remain closely associated with the breed.

Golden Retrievers have since become incredibly versatile dogs. In addition to being family companions, Goldens can be found participating in obedience, sporting activities, therapy work, service roles, and many other pursuits.

Laurel's future is still unwritten. For now, we're simply excited to watch this little English Golden Retriever girl grow and see what makes her uniquely Laurel.

Building Positive Experiences From the Beginning

A puppy doesn't need a packed schedule to be learning. During these first weeks, even simple everyday experiences can introduce Laurel to something new.

Growing up with our family at Bluebird Meadow Puppies allows her to become accustomed to normal household activity, human interaction, handling, sounds, and movement. As she reaches the appropriate developmental stages, we gradually add early socialization and age-appropriate experiences to her routine.

Her littermates are part of that learning process as well. They start as warm little companions to sleep beside, but it doesn't take long before they're also playmates. Puppy games, exploring, wrestling, and interacting with one another all become part of Laurel's days as the litter grows.

Our goal isn't to rush Laurel through these stages. We want her to have the time and opportunity to experience puppyhood one step at a time.

Laurel's Parents: Hazel & Diamond

Laurel is one of Hazel and Diamond's English Golden Retriever puppies, and we're happy to provide families with information about the parents behind her.

Both Hazel and Diamond are AKC registered and have been genetically tested clear on the Golden Retriever panel. Health testing within Laurel's parentage also includes OFA heart and patella evaluations.

Her family background also includes Junior Champion recognition through UKU.

At Bluebird Meadow Puppies, we believe health information, genetic testing, and careful consideration of the parents are important parts of planning a litter. We also believe prospective families should have the opportunity to review the available information about their puppy's parents.

Everything Laurel Needs for Her First Days Home

When Laurel leaves our home in Middlebury, she'll be trading familiar faces and littermates for a brand-new family, environment, and routine. That's a pretty big adventure for a little puppy!

To help her family prepare for those first days, Laurel will head home with:

  • A starter bag of Royal Canin puppy food

  • A collar and leash

  • A toy

  • Her goodie bag

Laurel will also be microchipped through Global Pet Security with lifetime microchip registration, giving her permanent identification that can stay with her throughout her life.

Laurel Will Be Ready October 7

Laurel's October 7, 2026 go-home date will arrive before we know it, but she has plenty of growing left to do before then.

Over the coming weeks, her legs will become steadier, her surroundings will become more interesting, and those quiet newborn days will turn into a much busier version of puppyhood. Somewhere along the way, we'll start seeing more and more of the personality behind that pretty cream-colored face.

Until then, we're enjoying having Laurel here with us and watching another one of Hazel and Diamond's beautiful English Golden Retriever puppies take on the world a little bit at a time. 🤍🐾
