Reserving a Puppy
A non-refundable deposit of $300 is required to reserve a puppy.
All puppy reservations are handled on a first deposit, first reserved basis. The first person to submit a deposit secures the puppy.
Once a deposit has been received and a go-home date has been established, the puppy will be scheduled for a complete veterinary examination with our licensed veterinarian. This examination is paid for by the breeder and is performed to help ensure your puppy is healthy and ready to transition to its new home.
The remaining balance must be paid in full before the puppy leaves our care.
Should our veterinarian determine that the puppy has a major medical condition that prevents placement, the buyer will receive a full refund of their deposit.
Healthy Puppy Guarantee
Every puppy receives a comprehensive nose-to-tail veterinary examination before joining its new family.
Buyers are required to have their puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within five (5) days of taking possession of the puppy.
If your veterinarian diagnoses a life-threatening illness or condition that was not disclosed on the breeder's veterinary health report, you must immediately notify Bluebird Meadow Puppies and provide veterinary documentation.
Failure to complete the initial veterinary examination within five days may void applicable health guarantees.
Three-Year Genetic Health Guarantee
AKC registered puppies are covered by a three-year genetic health guarantee.
If, before the puppy's third birthday, a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a life-altering genetic condition that is confirmed through appropriate genetic testing for the breed, the breeder must be notified immediately.
All documentation, diagnostic results, and veterinary records must be provided for review.
Additional evaluation from a second licensed veterinarian selected by the breeder may be required before a claim can be approved.
New Owner Responsibilities
To maintain the validity of all health guarantees, the buyer agrees to:
-
Provide routine veterinary care
-
Maintain recommended vaccination schedules
-
Follow veterinarian-recommended deworming protocols
-
Provide flea, tick, and heartworm prevention as recommended
-
Feed an appropriate, nutritionally balanced diet
-
Maintain proper weight and physical condition
-
Provide routine care for ears, eyes, teeth, nails, and coat
-
Schedule annual veterinary wellness examinations
-
Provide proper exercise, housing, and overall care
Unless otherwise discussed with the breeder or veterinarian, puppies should be spayed or neutered by one year of age.
Failure to provide appropriate care may void any health guarantees.
Trupanion Pet Insurance
Bluebird Meadow Puppies partners with Trupanion to provide 30 days of complimentary pet insurance coverage to eligible puppies.
Participation is optional. Additional information regarding activation will be provided at the time of pickup.
Microchip Registration
All puppies are microchipped through Global Pet Security.
The buyer is responsible for registering the microchip in their name after taking ownership of the puppy. Registration instructions will be provided at pickup.
Return Policy
If a covered health issue arises, the buyer must immediately contact the breeder and provide:
-
The puppy's invoice number
-
Veterinary records
-
Written documentation from a licensed veterinarian
-
Contact information for the veterinarian
The documentation must confirm that the condition was not caused by abuse, neglect, injury, or improper care.
If a qualifying condition is verified, the breeder may choose one of the following options:
Option 1
Pay veterinary expenses directly related to the covered condition, up to the original purchase price of the puppy.
Option 2
Accept return of the puppy and provide a replacement puppy of similar breed, color, and size from a future available litter or another puppy agreed upon by both parties.
Additional Terms
The following conditions apply:
-
A copy of the buyer's initial veterinary examination report must be provided to the breeder.
-
Conditions considered minor, common, cosmetic, or easily correctable are not covered.
-
The breeder's financial responsibility shall never exceed the original purchase price of the puppy.
-
Coat color, markings, size, and temperament may change as a puppy matures.
-
The breeder is not responsible for allergies, environmental sensitivities, training outcomes, OFA certifications, or behavioral issues that develop after purchase.
-
The breeder is not responsible for transportation expenses, genetic testing expenses, or veterinary costs beyond those specifically covered by this agreement.
-
Puppies are sold with limited AKC registration unless otherwise specified.
-
Buyers are responsible for maintaining copies of all health guarantee documentation.
-
Any legal fees incurred in connection with disputes shall be the responsibility of the buyer.
