Getting to Know Willow
Meet Willow, a beautiful cream English Golden Retriever puppy born to Hazel and Diamond on August 12, 2026. Willow is spending these important first weeks with us at Bluebird Meadow Puppies in Middlebury, Indiana, surrounded by her littermates, our family, and all the familiar sights and sounds of home.
Right now, Willow is at that sweet stage where so much changes from one week to the next. Her world starts small, but as she grows, so does her curiosity. New sounds, new people, new experiences, and eventually plenty of puppy play all become part of her days.
We love watching each puppy develop at their own pace, and we're looking forward to seeing the little traits and quirks that will make Willow uniquely herself begin to emerge.
Getting to Know the English Golden Retriever
With their beautiful light coats, expressive faces, and sturdy build, English Golden Retrievers certainly know how to catch your attention. But their appeal goes far beyond their appearance.
Golden Retrievers were originally developed as sporting dogs, with generations of breeding focused on working closely alongside people. That history helped shape many of the qualities for which Goldens are known today, including their intelligence, trainability, and people-oriented nature.
Willow has a lovely cream-colored coat, and we're excited to watch her Golden Retriever features become even more beautiful as she grows.
Of course, every puppy is an individual, and that's part of the fun. Willow has plenty of growing to do before we know exactly what kind of personality she'll bring to her future family.
Growing Up at Bluebird Meadow
There is a lot happening behind the scenes during a puppy's first several weeks of life. Here at Bluebird Meadow Puppies, we want those early weeks to provide a strong beginning without rushing puppies through puppyhood.
Willow is being raised around our family and littermates, giving her opportunities to become familiar with normal household activity and human interaction. As she reaches the appropriate developmental stages, we introduce early socialization and new experiences to help expand the world around her.
Her littermates are an important part of these early weeks too. Together they learn, explore, play, wrestle, sleep in puppy piles, and experience many of their earliest milestones side by side.
For now, Willow's biggest responsibilities are pretty simple: eat, sleep, grow, explore, and enjoy being a puppy.
A Thoughtful Start Begins With Hazel & Diamond
Willow's story really begins with her parents, Hazel and Diamond.
Both parents are AKC registered and have been genetically tested clear on the Golden Retriever panel. Their health testing also includes OFA heart and patella evaluations.
In addition, Willow comes from accomplished lines, with Junior Champion recognition through UKU in her parentage. We believe thoughtful parent selection and health testing are important parts of raising our English Golden Retriever puppies, and we're proud to share that background with Willow's future family.
Helping Willow Settle Into Her New Home
October will bring a pretty big adventure for this little girl. Leaving her littermates and everything she has known to join a new family is exciting, but it's also a major transition for a young puppy.
When Willow leaves Bluebird Meadow Puppies, we'll send familiar and useful items along to help make those first days a little easier, including:
A starter bag of Royal Canin puppy food
A collar and leash
A toy
Her goodie bag
Willow will also be microchipped through Global Pet Security with lifetime microchip registration, providing permanent identification that can stay with her throughout her life.
October 7 Will Be Here Before We Know It
Willow will be ready to begin the next chapter of her life on October 7, 2026, but we're not rushing these next few weeks.
There are still plenty of milestones ahead, from becoming steadier on those growing puppy legs to discovering toys, interacting more with people, and showing us more of the personality tucked inside that fluffy cream coat.
For now, we're simply enjoying having Willow here at Bluebird Meadow and watching this beautiful little English Golden Retriever girl grow one day at a time. 🤍🐾
