Getting to Know Jake
This handsome little guy is Jake, a red Pembroke Welsh Corgi born to Kelly and Ace on August 5, 2026. He is being raised here with us at Bluebird Meadow Puppies in Middlebury, Indiana, where these first weeks of his life are filled with growing, learning, and plenty of time with his littermates.
Every week brings something different for Jake. As his world gets a little bigger, he is becoming more aware of the people, sounds, movement, and activity around him. Those tiny puppy days pass quickly, and before long, we’ll begin seeing more of the individual personality that makes Jake uniquely himself.
The Little Dog With a Working-Dog History
It is easy to recognize a Pembroke Welsh Corgi by the breed’s short legs, sturdy body, expressive face, and eventually those unmistakable ears. But behind that adorable appearance is a breed with an interesting working history.
Corgis were developed as herding dogs, and their intelligence, awareness, and willingness to stay involved with what is happening around them remain part of the breed today. Their manageable size paired with their lively character has helped make Pembroke Welsh Corgis beloved companions.
Jake has a beautiful red coat, one of the classic colors associated with the breed. We’re looking forward to watching his Corgi features become even more noticeable as he matures.
Life Is Busy When You’re a Puppy
Jake may not have a long to-do list just yet, but his first weeks are important ones.
Growing up around our family gives him opportunities to experience the normal sights, sounds, and routines of everyday life. As he reaches the appropriate stages of development, we incorporate early socialization and new experiences to help broaden the little world he knows.
And then there are his littermates. They provide Jake with built-in playmates for exploring, wrestling, playing, and learning before everyone eventually heads in different directions.
We believe there is value in letting puppies develop at an appropriate pace. Jake has plenty of time ahead of him for training and bigger adventures. Right now, his job is to grow and explore.
Helping Jake Make the Move Home
Going from everything familiar to a brand-new home is a big change for a little puppy. When Jake leaves Bluebird Meadow Puppies, we’ll send several items along to help his family get started, including:
A starter bag of Royal Canin puppy food
A collar and leash
A toy
His goodie bag
Jake will also be microchipped through Global Pet Security with lifetime microchip registration. This gives him permanent identification that stays with him throughout his life, along with access to a digital pet profile where his family can maintain important information.
A Little More About Kelly & Ace
Before there was Jake, there were Kelly and Ace. They are Jake’s parents and an important part of his story here at Bluebird Meadow.
September 30 Will Be Here Before We Know It
Jake still has several important weeks ahead of him before he is ready to leave us. There are new things to experience, lots of growing to do, and probably more than a few Corgi puppy adventures waiting between now and then.
His September 30, 2026 go-home date will mark the end of his first chapter here at Bluebird Meadow, but it will also be the beginning of a much bigger one.
For now, we’re happy to have Jake here with us and look forward to watching this little red Corgi boy grow!
