Getting to Know Ivy

Meet Ivy, a beautiful cream English Golden Retriever puppy born to Hazel and Diamond on August 12, 2026. Ivy is growing up here at Bluebird Meadow Puppies in Middlebury, Indiana, where her earliest days are being spent close to her littermates and surrounded by the everyday activity of our family.

There is something special about watching a young puppy begin to discover her world. Each week brings changes for Ivy as she becomes more aware of the people around her, notices new sounds and movements, and starts experiencing all those little puppy firsts.

We don't want to decide what Ivy's personality will be before she's had a chance to show us herself. That's one of our favorite parts of raising puppies. Over the coming weeks, we'll get to know more about this sweet girl as her own personality begins to emerge.

A Closer Look at the English Golden Retriever

It's hard not to notice the beautiful appearance of an English Golden Retriever. Their lighter coats, expressive faces, and classic Golden Retriever features give them an unmistakable look.

Golden Retrievers have a long history as sporting dogs bred to work closely with people. Their intelligence, trainability, and people-focused nature have helped the breed become a popular choice for families and individuals looking for a companion who can be an active part of everyday life.

Ivy's beautiful cream coloring is already one of her most noticeable features. She still has plenty of growing ahead of her, and we're excited to see how her coat and overall appearance develop as she matures.

Ivy's First Weeks at Bluebird Meadow

Although Ivy's world is still fairly small, these early weeks are filled with important experiences.

Being raised here with our family allows Ivy to gradually become familiar with the normal sights, sounds, handling, and activity that come with everyday life. As she reaches the appropriate developmental stages, we introduce early socialization and age-appropriate experiences to help her become comfortable exploring a world that gets a little bigger each week.

Of course, some of her best teachers right now are her littermates. There will be plenty of puppy piles, playful wrestling, exploring, and learning together before the puppies eventually begin heading to their new homes.

We want Ivy to have the opportunity to simply enjoy being a puppy while building positive early experiences along the way.

Meet Ivy's Parents, Hazel & Diamond

Ivy is one of Hazel and Diamond's English Golden Retriever puppies, and careful consideration of parent health is an important part of our breeding program at Bluebird Meadow Puppies.

Both parents are AKC registered and have been genetically tested clear on the Golden Retriever panel. Health testing in Ivy's parentage also includes OFA heart and patella evaluations.

Ivy also comes from accomplished lines that include Junior Champion recognition through UKU.

We believe families should have the opportunity to learn about the dogs behind their puppy, which is why we make available the health and genetic testing information we have for Hazel and Diamond.

Getting Ivy Ready for Her Next Adventure

Ivy's world will change quite a bit when October arrives. Instead of sharing her days with all of her littermates, she'll be settling into a new routine and learning what life is like with her own family.

To help make that transition a little easier, Ivy will head home from Bluebird Meadow Puppies with several useful items, including:

• A starter bag of Royal Canin puppy food

• A collar and leash

• A toy

• Her goodie bag

Ivy will also be microchipped through Global Pet Security with lifetime microchip registration, giving her permanent identification that can remain with her throughout her life.

A New Chapter Begins October 7

October 7, 2026 will be a big day for Ivy, but she has plenty of puppyhood to enjoy before then.

Between now and her go-home date, she'll continue growing, learning, playing with her littermates, and experiencing more of the world around her. Most of all, we'll have the fun of watching Ivy become Ivy as more of her individual personality starts to shine through.
